Hello JJites!!! I wish to share few things with u all! I am 2004 pass out. I am once again back to Sir J. J. college. as a lecturer from 19th July 2005 along with three more new faculties out of whom Pradnya Jagzape & Rajesh Rokade also graduated from sir J. J! Its sheer pleasure to work for our alma-matter! & also under such an enthusiastic and strong leadership! For all these past 8-9 months, since I have joined the college I have witnessed myself all those interesting events in our JJ campus about which I would like to make a mention… Events
  • Inauguration of Claude Battley Hall by pro-vice chancellor Dr. A. D. Sawant & exhibition of works of Ar. Dengle
  • Presentation of works & lecture by Ar. Shirish Beri
  • Alumni meet of 1952 to 1956 batch, exhibition of their academic works of those times,
  • Felicitation of the senior teachers.
  • Lecture & workshops by artist Ar. Sanjay Mhatre
  • presentations & Panel discussion on land, water & architecture by Ar. Ratan Batliboy, Ar. Abhijit Madrekar, --------------
  • Everest ward function for the best student in Fourth Year: Reshma Dharmadhikari
  • Charles Correa gold Medal Award Jury 2005-2006
  • Film screeninf of ‘The Pianist’ by Israel consulate where pro vice chancellor Dr. A. D. Sawant ws also presemt.
  • Jury of Octroy Naka Design Competition, Exhibition of Winning Entries
 Academic innovations 
  • Credit system to benefit students to understand monthly progress special credits for extra curricular activities
  • Department heads for: Design, History & Arts, Sciences , Practices
  • 2 weeks orientation program for the freshers before starting academics whereby they Design problem oriented study tours & making documented report on the same.
  • mock juries by external faculties for students to get review omn their design
  • Participation in number of competitions… we won prizes in saint Gobain, Birla White, Pidilite Award, designing game dromes for sify.com etc., landscape gesign for the part of Kalina campus.
  • Participation in the Entrance Arena design for the AEC world expo 2005
  • Announcement of RD3 research cell
 

Infrastructure

  • Now you wont find a single corner in any of our two architecture buildings underutilized
  • All the studios have new drafting tables with white laminated top & self contained lockers, which has entirely changed the look of the studios & has created a fresh designing & drafting space for the students.
  • The studios are made pigeon-free.
  • All the rooms, studios, lecture halls have got its signage board
  • Administration & accounts department also having signage & most of the work is computerized.
  • library accession soon shall be computerized : the data feeding is in progress
  • around 500 new book are purchased for the library
  • two LCD projectors: one permanently arrange for presentations, lectures in Seminar hall
  • new 32" color T.V. & music system
  • Tea-cofee maker in the principals chamber…
  • new two table tennis boards, new set of gym
  • Computer lab with 30 Nos. with P4 processors & speakers, the computers are kept dust free with vacuum cleaners!!
  • Material library is under renovation 
  • College broacher is ready for those who want information about our college
  • College website sirjjarchitecture.org has also been started
  • Recently we have joined hands with Autodesk and 75 new high-speed computers have arrived in our college and on 12th April 2006 we are having the inauguration of two Autodesk computer labs by the Honorable Education Minister Mr. Dilip Walse Patil.
 Thus now we are having almost one computer per faculty and one computer per 4 studentsThe day is not far off where we shall have one computer per student! Tejaswini MankameLecturer
