The entry by our alumni, Ammaar Porbunderwala (Batch of 2021), showcases an interesting approach to the challenge. This weekend getaway home, situated in the vicinage of nature is designed to enjoy the outdoors even from the inside. The interior spaces have very few partitions creating a spacious home, including curved partition walls at some places having an individuality of its own. The furniture is also arranged along with the curves. As for the aesthetics, the interior design follows an earthy colour palette but with plush upholstery and décor, giving it a cozy but luxurious feel, thus enhancing the purpose of this weekend getaway home. |
MARS CALLING - ARCHDAIS - ENTRY SELECTED AS HONORABLE MENTION
|
'Mars Calling' was an art competition organized by Archdias that invited its participants to visualize a walk on the Martian habitat.
The students were required to submit an illustration that captured different social interactions and the notion of public spaces in an alien world. Along these lines was an illustration submitted by Ar. Rohit Dhote (Batch of 2020), one of our alumni from the batch of 2021, whose work bagged an Honorable Mention out of 1200+ entries. Here’s a link to the website where it is featured - https://archdais.com/wall-of-fame/mars-calling2326 A very fascinating aspect of this illustration is that it plays out through a short storyline with a very intriguing narrative style. The comic strip format instantly connects with the 'viewers' as they traverse through scenes through the eyes of the character. In this way the viewer gets elevated as the 'primary observer' who shares the character's vision or rather the illustrator's dream. As we approach the last scene, the illustration continues to leave an afterthought in the viewer's mind where one can't help but build their idea of 'a new home in an unfamiliar land'. |
